The Funky Monk

Fantastic location. The apartment we stayed in was The Bashing Bishop, while it was lovely it does need a bit of tlc. Paint peeling, stains on the toilet walls & a leak at the back of the loo. We bought a cheap shower mat as it was very slippery. Lots of steps leading up to the property & this wouldn't have been a problem however duck droppings on the hand rails made them disgusting & unusable. The whole steps were covered in it & it wasn't new. A power wash maybe once a month would help. Bed & sofa was very comfortable. Bath tub & hot tub were lovely. I would stay again as the positives outweighed the negatives.

My group of seven have all agreed this was a fantastic place for a get together.I found flat 5 on the very top floor had amazing decor, very clean and was very well equipped with everything we needed.We loved the little goodies in a basket, cold water bottles,milk and plenty of tea/coffee.This flat has three big luxurious baths and lovely toiletries provided.The three bed where enormous and could sleep three easily and are so cosy with fabulous pillows.There was a double sofa bed in living room area but we didn't need it.I can highly recommend the funky monk,we loved it and are already planning future visits as it was so close to shops,pubs, restaurants and the train station.

Our experience. Not great mainly due to complexity in getting access. Link to key didn’t work. Telephone number (when you eventually track it down on internet ) went to voicemail. But later discovered if you secretly press 0 during voicemail message you can thru to them. Who knew!! Had to Uber to a nearby hotel that we worked out owns the funky monk. The ladies at reception (who were very nice) helped us get the key onto iPhone but when we Ubered back it still didn’t work. They let us in remotely but then had to phone them to get into our room. The sofa in the room was not clean. Dusty with hairs on it. The TV didn’t work (error code xyz) , the air con did not work, the toilet door doesn’t stay shut, the WiFi is hit or miss. Eg now I am having to use 4G. All this is made worse by the fact it’s really expensive. Whenever neighbour used the water there was a really loud whine through the pipes. Didn’t fancy getting on the hot tub. Got the ick. Does not sleep 4 as advertised. Bedding only available for 3. And that’s 1 on the dusty sofa.
